[Vivatel Hotel Kuala Lumpur] 【Hotel in Malaysia】

Enjoy a comfortable stay at an affordable 4-star hotel just a short 4km (10-minute drive) from downtown Kuala Lumpur!

Hello!

Japan’s summer was scorching this year, wasn’t it? Lately, Malaysia has been hit hard by haze since September entered the month ((+_+)). I really hope it clears up soon! On a personal note, I recently gave birth to my child, so I’m going to do my best to raise them carefully. Thank you so much for booking Sky Mirror!

Here’s a look at the Vivatel Hotel Kuala Lumpur, a 4-star hotel I stayed at in April 2019, conveniently located near the city center of Kuala Lumpur. The surrounding area features typical shop lots (Shoplot, akin to a shopping arcade in Japan), residential areas, and schools. It’s a great choice for travelers and expats alike, offering a relaxing getaway at an affordable price. Let’s go!

This is a spacious room type, featuring stylish decor items.

The pool was compact, but more than enough for a relaxing break. Right next door is the gym.

A woman in sunglasses stands beside a rooftop swimming pool with blue tiles, overlooking a modern building and gym area.

Woman in sunglasses and red checkered shirt poses in a bright gym with wooden slat walls and fitness equipment.

The gym isn’t very large, but it’s a great spot to squeeze in a quick workout after work and feel refreshed! However, I wouldn’t recommend it during heavy rain. Why? Because you’ll need to pass through a slightly uncovered area…

The three photos above showcase the Deluxe type, which is equipped with amenities such as toiletries, bath towels, a hair dryer, bathrobe, and iron. Featuring a modern design, each room is themed around one of the five elements—“Fire,” “Water,” “Wood,” “Metal,” or “Earth”—and adorned with matching printed artwork.

Ever had the unpleasant experience of freezing in your hotel room? As someone who’s always cold, if the air conditioning couldn’t be adjusted, my only option was to bundle up and sleep in thick clothes… But at the Vivatel Kuala Lumpur Hotel, you don’t have to worry about that! You can easily adjust the AC temperature to your liking.

Each room is very clean and spotless. The standard rooms are about 23㎡, while the deluxe rooms are around 25㎡. The photo above shows the Grand Suite Room, which boasts an impressive size of approximately 65㎡! It even has two bathrooms, making it spacious and comfortable. When you’re looking to splurge on a trip abroad, this kind of luxury apartment-style accommodation is perfect! And despite the “splurge” label, it’s only around 12,000 yen per room per night. (Rates vary depending on the season and availability, so please contact TABINIKO when you’re ready to book.) It’s truly cheap compared to hotels in Tokyo!!!!

This room is a Duplex Suite. It’s a mezzanine-type layout, reportedly often chosen by honeymooners or locals for their wedding stays. There are only a few rooms of this type. The oval bathtub is incredibly stylish, giving the room a modern vibe. A coffee maker is also provided. However, since there is only one king-size bed, this room is designed for two guests. If you’re looking for a slightly luxurious stay, it costs around 13,500 JPY per night. (Rates vary depending on the season and availability; please contact TABINIKO when you wish to make a reservation.) This price is quite affordable for this type of room.

Breakfast was centered around local food, and it was decently tasty. I was satisfied.

Another standout feature of the Vivatel Hotel Kuala Lumpur is its direct connection to the VIVA Shopping Mall. This local mall is home to numerous furniture stores, a supermarket, and plenty of dining options. You can pick up clothing, daily necessities, and more at affordable prices. For business travelers staying at this business hotel, it’s the perfect spot for dinner—conveniently located right next door.

Club7 is accessible to in-house guests, but only within designated areas. Operating hours are subject to change, so please verify them at the time of your visit. While a variety of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are available, they come at an additional charge. According to staff, management frequently updates their policies, so it’s essential to confirm availability, details, and access rights on a case-by-case basis.

Behind Club 7, there’s actually a hidden room! It’s a members-only space equipped with karaoke facilities. Access requires a VIVATEL Premium CLUB 7 Membership. The annual fee is RM2,888 (as of September 2019, approximately ¥7,500).

Must-Know Money-Saving Ayat Info

As mentioned earlier, Vivatel Kuala Lumpur is directly connected to VIVA Shopping Mall. This local mall occasionally hosts exhibitions, such as Chinese tea exhibitions and photo exhibitions. You can walk to the LRT station in about 7 minutes via this mall. Cross the bridge, and you’ll arrive at Miharja, a residential area that resembles a local housing estate. Known locally as flats, if you continue straight along the road, you’ll see the Miharja LRT station on your left.

  • Miharja was originally a residential area with a high concentration of ethnic Chinese residents in Malaysia (though this is changing in recent years). If you cross the bridge and head down, you’ll find a hawker center catering mainly to the Chinese community. English may not be widely spoken here. Be cautious when walking around at night.

  • The front desk is open 24/7, and you can choose whether or not breakfast is included.

  • You can use the parking lot at Viva Mall, so driving and staying here is totally fine!

Surrounding Information

  • In addition to the local housing estate of Miharja, it’s also close to Sunway Velocity, IKEA Cheras, and MyTOWN Shopping Centre. The Chinese Quarter of Kuala Lumpur—Petaling Street—is nearby as well! Each location is about an 8-minute drive away. If you prefer to travel by train, using the Miharja LRT station is convenient.

  • It’s about an 8 to 15-minute drive from the bustling areas like the Twin Towers KLCC and Bukit Bintang.

  • Vivatel Kuala Lumpur is also close to the Pudu area. It’s like an adjacent neighborhood, and Miharja and Pudu are older towns that have been developing since early on. Unlike the sleek, modern high-rise buildings in the city center, Pudu is lined with rather modest shop lots (similar to shopping streets in Japan), but it’s packed with affordable local eats!
