RMCO: Recovery Movement Control Order (PKPP)

June 10 – August 31 [NEW]

The Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), or Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan Bersyarat (PKPB), will end on June 9.

PKPP (Perintah Kawalan Pengerakan Pemulihan / Recovery Movement Control Order) refers to a conditional movement control order implemented to support the recovery phase. In English, it is known as the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

The PKPB (Conditional Movement Control Order) was originally scheduled to end on 9 June. From 9 June to 31 August, it will transition to the RMCO.

There are actions that are permitted and those that are not. I’ve compiled a summary of them below to the best of my ability.

■NO:

Malaysians are not permitted to travel abroad. Upon returning from overseas, Malaysian citizens must undergo testing at the airport. If the result is negative, they are allowed to undergo mandatory 14-day home quarantine instead of staying at a designated quarantine facility, provided they wear a tracking electronic band (?) and download the MySejahtera app. If the result is positive, they will be transferred to a designated quarantine facility.

Basketball, soccer, and swimming are not permitted. Sports activities involving multiple people or physical contact are also prohibited, particularly those with cheering squads.

Nightclubs, karaoke venues, and massage parlors are still not permitted to open.

■OK:

Starting Wednesday, June 10, interstate travel is permitted, with the exception of areas under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

Domestic travel is OK! (Yay!)

Most social, educational, religious, commercial, and economic activities will gradually resume during the PKPP (RMCO) period. It is essential to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Badminton, bowling, and archery are all good to go.

Fishing, museum visits, indoor sightseeing, film shoots, and self-service laundromats are all permitted.

Group travel by bicycle or motorcycle is OK. (?)

Things are gradually opening up, but if you’re looking to enter Malaysia from overseas, a little more patience is needed.

Updates to follow.

Let’s calmly tackle COVID-19 together.
