[How MM2H Holders Can Return to Malaysia at This Point]
MM2H holders can return to Malaysia, but they must first follow the steps below to review the latest announcements and complete the application process.
1
Link to the entry form:
If you are applying from a high-risk country, your application may not be approved. It is reportedly decided by the Ministry of Health, the National Security Council (MKN), and the Ministry of Tourism.
The link to the entry form is: https://bit.ly/3eqyA0U. By entering the link, the information you provide will be shared with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Malaysia (MOTAC) and the Malaysian Immigration Department.
2
Email to obtain entry permission:
Next, to secure your entry permission, send an email to kpi@imi.gov.my with naeem.azmi@imi.gov.my in the CC field. In the email, politely ask, “May I return?” and await their response.
If the answer is “No,” it appears you have no choice but to give up.
If you receive a reply saying “Okay,” that is the green light to start preparing for your trip to Malaysia.
3
Negative Certificate for Coronavirus:
You are required to undergo a medical screening swab test 14 days prior to your return and provide documentation proving a negative result for the coronavirus. This must be submitted upon entry into Malaysia.

LETTER OF UNDERTAKING AND INDEMNITY / PERSON UNDER SURVEILLANCE

After entering Malaysia, you are required to quarantine for 14 days at a designated quarantine facility, with 100% of the accommodation costs borne by yourself. While it appears you may stay at a different hotel if the designated facility is “slightly” inconvenient, the accommodation fees at the designated quarantine facilities are reportedly lower. Staying at non-designated locations incurs no special fee, but the standard rate is charged, resulting in a significantly higher cost.
Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Dato Sri Nancy binti Haji Shukri stated that the government welcomes MM2H holders returning to Malaysia, but emphasized that they must comply with all requirements of the administrative order. She asked for understanding regarding the challenges faced by the authorities and expressed her hope for safe travels and joyful reunions with loved ones.
You may have a lot of questions or uncertainties. Government information is also updated regularly.
I strongly recommend reaching out to the email address mentioned above (note that communication will be in English). Alternatively, you can seek support from a Japanese MM2H agency.
I’ll keep updating this post.
Let’s stay calm and fight COVID-19 together.
