[Pandemic] 50 [ATM usage hours changed to 8AM-8PM]

Colorful street scene in Malaysia with text overlay about staying calm and fighting COVID-19

[ATM operating hours changed to 8 AM – 8 PM]

The operating hours for ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) have been shortened. The original hours of 7 AM to 10 PM have been changed to 8 AM to 8 PM, and there has been no announcement regarding when they will revert to the original schedule. A classic Malaysian case of “to be advised.”

The reason for the change is that many people want to withdraw cash at night during the MCO implementation.

A note to those planning to withdraw cash: please be cautious.

These days, I try to avoid using cash as much as possible when shopping, opting instead for e-money or credit card payments. I tend to feel a bit uneasy about carrying cash.

Continuing to update.

Let’s stay calm and face the COVID-19 challenge together. In response to the impact of the novel coronavirus, Malaysia announced a “Movement Control Order” (MCO) from March 18 to March 31, effective from 10:00 PM on March 16 (11:00 PM Japan time). In short, this means prohibiting foreigners from entering the country and preventing Malaysian citizens from leaving.
