[Selangor: Only 4 Industries Allowed to Operate 2 Days a Week]
This information is from before the extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO). It is said that more shops will be allowed to operate after the extension. I will update this post accordingly.
Selangor State,
Agricultural fertilizer and pesticide retailers,
Hardware stores,
Pet shops,
Industrial components,
On April 2 (Thursday), it was announced that they had permitted the operation of their sales outlets.
The Selangor State Municipal Council has announced that it has eased certain business restrictions and permitted operations to resume, following recommendations from the National Security Council (Majlis Keselamatan Negara, or MKN).
Do you know about MKN? If you have a Malaysian mobile phone plan, you’ve likely received messages from them. These alerts—often in Malay—include important notices, such as reminders that you must not go out after 10 PM.
Hardware shops (known as “五金店” among Malaysian Chinese communities) in Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Kajang, Klang, and Kuala Langat in Selangor will now operate two days a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. (The schedule for Sepang has not yet been determined.)
Operating hours for hardware shops in Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Kajang, Klang, and Kuala Langat: Monday and Thursday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
→ Sabak Bernam: Operating hours are Tuesdays and Fridays, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
(Note: Information is subject to change.)
The store in question must strictly enforce social distancing, mask-wearing, and thorough hand sanitization and washing.
The government has not yet lifted the Movement Control Order (MCO), even for limited operating hours, so essentially, you’re still expected to stay at home.
The hardware shop operating license was issued to enable ordinary citizens to handle maintenance and repairs when issues arise with residential fixtures. It is said that when hardware wholesalers need to deliver goods, they can pass through police roadblocks by presenting their delivery notes.
It is said that they will gradually announce which industries and businesses will be allowed to resume operations.
We will continue to update.
Let’s stay calm and fight COVID-19 together. In response to the impact of the novel coronavirus, Malaysia announced a “Movement Control Order” from March 18 to March 31, effective as of 10:00 PM on March 16 (11:00 PM Japan time). In simple terms, this means prohibiting entry for people from outside the country (foreign nationals) and restricting exit for those inside the country (Malaysian citizens).
