The government announced that it will lower the maximum retail price of three-ply medical masks to RM1.50 per piece.

It’s said to be sold for RM75 for a pack of 50, with implementation starting from April 1.

On March 20, it was announced that the wholesale price of a three-layer medical mask was RM1.50, with a 50-pack wholesale price of RM75 and a retail price of RM100.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob stated that the government is continuously reviewing mask prices in light of market conditions, and will reassess the maximum selling price if market prices for masks decline.

Additionally, since locally produced masks in Malaysia are limited in supply and imports make up the majority, the government has decided to set the maximum retail price of masks at RM1.50.

Mask prices in Malaysia:

Single-layer mask: RM0.15 / piece, RM7 / box (50 pieces)

Two-layer mask: RM0.20/each, RM10/box (50 pieces)

3-layer tray: RM1.50 / each, RM75 / box (50 pcs)

N95 Masks: RM6.00 each

I will continue to update.

Let’s stay calm and fight COVID-19 together. In response to the impact of the novel coronavirus, Malaysia announced an “Movement Control Order” (MCO) from March 18 to March 31, effective from 10:00 PM on March 16 (11:00 PM Japan time). In short, this order prohibits entry into the country for foreigners and restricts Malaysian citizens from leaving the country.
