[Preparing for the Worst-Case Scenario: Construction of Temporary Medical Facilities Begins]
To prepare for the worst-case scenario, Malaysia has begun constructing temporary medical facilities (mobile cabin hospitals).
It is reported that a temporary medical facility, capable of accommodating 500 to 600 beds, is being rapidly constructed at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). Five hundred beds have been installed in Hall A of MAEPS.

Here’s a look inside Hall A at MAEPS. The space is filled with numerous single beds, partitioned off by divider boards, with a spacing of at least 2 meters between each bed. The setup features one room for every two beds.

The Malaysian government responded to a report by JP Morgan, which predicted that the number of infections in Malaysia would reach 6,000 by mid-April, stating, “We will firmly implement government measures, ensure citizens stay home, maintain clean hands, and keep a safe distance of 1 meter, thereby overturning the predictions in this report.”

Let’s stay calm and fight COVID-19 together. In response to the impact of the novel coronavirus, Malaysia announced an “Movement Control Order” (MCO) from March 18 to March 31, effective as of 10:00 PM on March 16 (Malaysia Time), which is 11:00 PM Japan Time. In short, this order prohibits foreigners from entering the country and prevents Malaysian citizens from leaving.
