[Hulu Langat: 7 Villages Under Full Lockdown and Quarantine]

On March 30 (Monday), starting at midnight, seven villages in Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat District, Selangor, will be placed under a full lockdown via the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO). This marks the second location to implement the EMCO, following the initial zone in Simpang Renggam, Johor.

The stretch from Batu 21 to Batu 24 along Sungai Lui is completely blocked off. Of the seven villages in the area, two are indigenous settlements and five are Malay villages. The 700 households comprising 3,918 residents are under a strict lockdown, with no unauthorized movement permitted. Non-residents and visitors are barred from entering the area. All local commercial activities have been suspended, and daily food supplies for residents are being provided by the Welfare Department. This restriction is in effect from March 30 to April 13.

The background to these measures is that 71 out of 274 people at a religious school in Batu 23 were confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus. The government has urged residents to remain calm and cooperate. For any queries, residents can contact the special hotline at 03-89254809 or 03-89114200.

I will continue to update this.

Let’s stay calm and tackle the COVID-19 challenge together. Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus, Malaysia announced an “Movement Control Order” (MCO) from March 18 to March 31, effective from 10 PM on March 16 (11 PM Japan time). In short, this means prohibiting entry for those outside the country (foreign nationals) and restricting exit for those inside (Malaysian citizens).
