Its popularity continues to soar, and finally, we’ve received a price increase notice from the operator…

You can see the Sky Mirror almost every day. However, since the appearance times vary daily, it’s essential to check the schedule and book your boat ride in advance.

These natural phenomena are so precious, so let’s cherish them! Please manage your own waste and refrain from picking up items from the beach!

We provide referrals to tour operators licensed for the Sky Mirror experience. We have many bookings from Japanese travelers, Japanese residents in Malaysia, and long-stay guests holding MM2H (Malaysia My Second Home) visas, among others. The price is approximately RM130+ for one adult and RM110+ for a child. Reservations are accepted via TABINIKO.

Highly Recommended Tourist Spot Near KL: SKY MIRROR – Surrounding Area Travel Guide

Hello! I’m Aya, a Japanese wife living in Malaysia.

Sky Mirror Area Sightseeing Part 3. Please be sure to check out “Part 1” and “Part 2” as well. Feel free to use this as a reference for your sightseeing route when visiting the Sky Mirror. In the morning, visit the Sky Mirror, followed by either Cafe Lumiere Or About Blue Café (蓝天白云) or Boat Café (天空号). In the late afternoon, stop by local souvenir shops and Restaurant Makanan Laut Bagan (港尾海鲜楼). For the cafes, if you have time, I highly recommend visiting them. I had a bit of extra time before the Sky Mirror assembly, so I used the opportunity to kill some time and have a light lunch with sandwiches.

■Cafe Lumiere:

I’ve actually introduced this spot before in “Surrounding Sightseeing Guide Part 1,” but I visited again this time. At Cafe Lumiere, we ordered sandwiches and enjoyed them, in addition to the pasta and coffee they’re known for.

I came across an incredibly beautiful Mya-chan!

This stylish cafe, located right in the city center, offers prices that are truly “city-center rates.” It’s incredibly convenient, just a 2-3 minute walk from the Sky Mirror Jetty. The surrounding area is a row of shop lots (similar to a shopping arcade in Japan), so while there are plenty of shops, many tend to be closed depending on the time of day. You’ll also find Indian-Muslim eateries—known as Mamak stalls—nearby, where you can enjoy dishes like Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and Tek Tarik (pulled milk tea).

Four triangular club sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, and cheese arranged on a wooden board.

This was a sandwich, and there were three types: chicken ham, egg mayonnaise, and crab stick. When I placed my order, I ended up with the above as a single serving. If they had explained it to me, I probably wouldn’t have ordered four sets… At RM18 per set, it’s a bit pricey, but the ambiance was nice.

■About Blue Café (蓝天白云)

I’ve been to this café several times, but it was often closed… so pay close attention to their operating hours. They’re only open from Thursday to Sunday! Hours: 11am to 7pm. I’d recommend calling ahead to confirm → 016-776 0334, 016-273 6033. The exterior looks like a typical residential house, so you’ll have to really search for it to find it.

A large illuminated moon decoration hangs in a cafe interior where two people are seated at a table.

As soon as you step through the entrance, a large, globe-like object comes into view.

The café is called About Blue Café (蓝天白云): blue skies and white clouds. What a beautiful name. It evokes the image of a sky mirror. In recent years, Malaysia has also awakened to the allure of “style,” with stylish cafés popping up everywhere! You’d never expect them to appear one after another in a place as rural as Kuala Selangor.

A slice of banana cheesecake topped with caramelized banana and cream on a red plate, dusted with powdered sugar.

The cakes are super popular, so we went for the blueberry cake and the local jackfruit cake! We enjoyed three types in total, including a cheesecake. As for the jackfruit cake, it might not be to every Japanese person’s taste, but since you can’t find it anywhere else, we’d recommend giving it a try if you’re feeling adventurous. The cheesecake and blueberry cake, on the other hand, were absolutely flawless! That said, don’t expect too much from the coffee here. There’s a Honey Coffee for RM10, but as expected, it’s surprisingly weak!!! It seems like this is the norm for most cafes in the area. The coffee at Cafe Lumiere was just average, though.

Wow! It’s Mia-chan again! And this time, two pure white ones.

■Boat Café (Tengkoh):

A newly opened café on a boat! This unique spot is a converted fishing vessel turned cozy café. What’s it like to hang out in a boat café? Let’s take a peek!!

We drove there, but it’s incredibly hard to find. Even the signboard is tricky to spot unless you’re really looking for it, so make sure to search for Restaurant Makanan Laut Bagan (港尾海鲜楼) first. (We’ll introduce this seafood restaurant later in the blog.)

Next to the signboard of the seafood restaurant, you’ll find the cafe’s sign. For some reason, it’s tucked away at the back of the seafood restaurant. Once you head inside and walk toward the rear, you’ll discover a small jetty, and there it is—the Skyliner! Wow, it took quite a bit of effort to find it.

Don’t expect too much from the coffee. The bottle is lovely, but the taste is still a bit too weak. It’s great for Instagram-worthy photos, though. Since it’s a boat, it sways a little, so I personally wouldn’t stay for very long. It’s a two-story setup, and the upper deck feels less shaky.

■ Local souvenir shops:

Visiting local souvenir shops is so much fun! There are several branches of “168 Seafood Shop” (海鮮店), where you can shop for dried seafood, locally produced foods, biscuits, dry snacks, and more. You’ll find plenty of unique items you’ve never seen before. I ended up buying a ton too!!!

■Restaurant Makanan Laut Bagan (港尾海鲜楼)

The seafood restaurant I’d like to introduce today is Restaurant Makanan Laut Bagan (港尾海鲜楼). It’s frequently featured in online articles and videos.

For nearby sightseeing recommendations, check out our blog post on “揾到食海鲜餐馆 Want To Eat Restaurant” as well. Kuala Selangor’s old town is a fishing village, so you simply can’t miss out on the seafood!

Here’s the standout specialty at Restaurant Makanan Laut Bagan (港尾海鲜楼)! It’s a two-tiered dish: the top layer is filled with prawns and assorted shellfish, while the bottom layer holds the rich, flavorful broth. The prawns and shellfish are, of course, delicious, but the broth is the real star!!! It’s what I’d call “umami” (a made-up term). The concentrated flavor from simmering the seafood was absolutely irresistible.

The dish is called “Fei Shui Bu Liu Wai Ren Tian” (肥水不流外人田), a Chinese idiom meaning “don’t let the good stuff go to outsiders,” pronounced as Fei2 Shui3 Bu4 Liu2 Wai4 Ren2 Tian2. It’s served as Clay Pot Steamed With Seafood, priced at RM35 per person (as of August 2019, approximately JPY 884.07), and requires a minimum order for two people. By the way, our group of four ordered the two-person portion, along with other dishes, so the amount was more than enough.
