Iron Mosque (アイロン モスク) in Putrajaya (プトラジャヤ) [Travel to Malaysia]
Let’s explore another iconic mosque, located in Putrajaya, about 40 minutes south of Kuala Lumpur’s city center.
The Iron Mosque (Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque) is one of Malaysia’s most iconic modern mosques, and it’s a must-visit spot when you’re in Putrajaya.
This mosque is said to be able to accommodate up to approximately 20,000 worshippers, including those on the second floor.
Air conditioning is not installed, and another major feature is the natural cooling system that surrounds the building with waterways.
Additionally, volunteers are stationed inside the building and can provide explanations about the mosque and Islam upon request.
This mosque is nicknamed the “Iron Mosque” because about 70% of its structure is made of iron, making it incredibly striking and impressive.
It was also a great opportunity to learn about the teachings of Islam.

You won’t be allowed to enter if you’re wearing revealing clothing such as shorts, short skirts, or sleeveless tops, but don’t worry—robes are available for rent at the entrance counter.
I rented one too. The robe is quite hot, though! 💦

Right next to the mosque, you can see a green structure shaped like a rocket.
This is known as the Millennium Monument.
Standing at approximately 68 meters tall, the monument offers an educational journey along its surrounding walkway, where you can learn about Malaysia’s history and major national projects.
The area is surrounded by spacious, long parks, making it a great spot for a leisurely stroll.
