How to Make Luo Han Guo Water to Soothe the Throat and Lungs | Aya Mama Kitchen

Hello! I’m Aya Mama. Today, I’ll be sharing how to make Luo Han Guo water, a refreshing drink that soothes the throat and lungs.
The haze has been really bad lately, hasn’t it? Here’s a recommended herbal remedy to help. It’s super easy to make, so definitely give it a try!
Ingredients
- Luo Han Guo (Lakanta)

They’re sold in bags like this. You can store them at room temperature.

It’s also available at the Chinese dried goods store I mentioned in my previous blog post. I think it was around RM8. So cheap!!
How to make
Rinse the surface of the Lakanca with water and break it apart by hand. It breaks apart easily.
Cut into bite-sized pieces.
Place in the slow cooker.
Add about half a cup of water, bring to a boil, and then simmer for about an hour.
Complete!!!
The amount of Luo Han Guo water in this blog post is roughly enough for two adults, or about four glasses.

- Rinse the surface of the Lacanqua with water and break it apart by hand. It breaks apart easily.

- Cut into bite-sized pieces.

- Place in the slow cooker.
Using a slow cooker means you don’t have to keep an eye on the heat, and it retains moisture better, making it much easier than cooking in a pot. With a pot, you need to monitor the heat and deal with moisture evaporation.

- Add water until the pot is about half full, bring to a boil, and then simmer for about an hour.

- Done!!! The black extract has emerged. It looks incredibly potent 😊

My three-year-old son seems to dislike the color of this herbal remedy, but once he starts drinking it, he’ll finish it. It’s a sweet herbal drink, so it’s easy for him to consume. This Luo Han Guo water has a diuretic effect, so it makes me need to use the bathroom more frequently. That’s why I usually prepare it the night before a day when I don’t have any plans, and then drink it the next morning once it has cooled to a pleasant temperature. Just be careful not to leave it for too long, or it might spoil!
