[Hotel in Malaysia] The Westin Kuala Lumpur
The Westin Kuala Lumpur: A 5-Star Downtown Hotel
It’s close to trendy bar streets like Changkat, located in the heart of the city.
Hi there! I’m Aya, a Japanese wife living in Malaysia.
Japan is still pretty hot, isn’t it? I’m currently in the thick of raising kids in Malaysia. If I had to sum it up in one word: fun—but sleepless…
Here’s a look at The Westin Kuala Lumpur, located in the bustling Bukit Bintang district of Kuala Lumpur. It’s incredibly convenient, with easy walking access to Bukit Bintang, Jalan Alor, and Changkat. Whether you’re a traveler or a resident in Malaysia, this hotel is a perfect place to enjoy your vacation. Great location! High-quality rooms! Delicious breakfast with plenty of options! And the service from Mr. Nishimura, the Japanese-speaking staff member, is outstanding, so you can relax even if you don’t speak English!!! This is truly a five-star hotel!!!

We’ve arrived at the hotel and are taking a break in the lounge!! Afternoon tea is available! There’s a lavish spread of light bites, cakes, fruits, cheese, juices, wine, beer, and more. We indulged in a truly luxurious snack!! Absolutely amazing!!
■Facilities:
<Pool>

With plenty of benches to sleep on and chairs for relaxing, you can enjoy the pool at your own pace! The lush greenery makes it feel so refreshing (#^^#) We highly recommend spending an elegant family day by the pool—let the kids play in the water while you sip tea poolside and unwind!
Pool operating hours: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM (midnight). Having stayed at various hotels over the years, I can say this pool’s operating hours are exceptionally long. There’s also a bar right next to the pool, so you can enjoy the area well into the night.

The poolside bar. Enjoy a cold beer while soaking in the pool view!

■ Room:
<One-Bedroom Residence>
A layout akin to Japan’s 1LDK, but without a separate dining area. This unit features a living room, kitchen, bedroom, and shower room.

Here’s the room we stayed in this time. Since it’s a Residence type, it comes with a kitchen—the photo shows the living area in the foreground and the kitchen at the back. The living space is spacious! The floor on the left is wide enough to lay out about two large suitcases side by side.

Beyond the right curtain lies another balcony, as shown in the photo below,

Waking up in the morning and reading a book while sipping coffee sounds lovely.
With the Pavilion Shopping Mall right in front of you, you can enjoy a late night out and head straight back for a good night’s sleep.

Next to the bed is a sofa, and there’s also a dresser in front of it, so you have plenty of space to store your belongings.

There was also a study.

Features a compact kitchen, allowing you to prepare meals and cook.

All the basic amenities are provided.

It comes with a bathtub, and since hot water is available, I was able to soak in the tub and relax.
However, be careful not to let the hot water run for too long, as the temperature will gradually drop.
<Premium Room>
This room is comparable to a 1LDK in Japan, but without a separate dining area. It features a living room, kitchen, bedroom, and a shower room. The bed configuration consists of two single beds.

There are also rooms with two single beds. Many Japanese guests prefer two single beds over a king-size bed!

The showers come in both rain-type and standard showerhead options. It’s quite common for older hotels to lack a showerhead. Men tend to prefer rain showers, while women usually favor showerheads—probably because that’s how it is in my household (laughs). I absolutely require a showerhead!
<Two Bedroom Residence>
This is the 2LDK-style unit commonly found in Japan. It features a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, and two shower rooms.
Depending on the number of guests, two families can stay together. When traveling in a group, staying in separate hotel rooms can be inconvenient for moving around, and since you’ve come all this way together, you’ll likely want to chat and hang out until bedtime. But at the same time, everyone needs their own private space. In situations like this, a two-bedroom residence-type unit is incredibly convenient.
The Japanese community is still largely unaware of the appeal of these residences. When my family and friends travel, we almost always stay in residence-style hotels! It’s incredibly convenient because you can chat right up until bedtime and even plan the next day’s itinerary together.

The 2-bedroom living area is even larger, with more sofas added,

There’s also a dining table.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Mall is right in front of you.

The bedroom is spacious enough to lay out your suitcase.

The kitchen is located separately from the living and dining area, designed as an independent space. It is equipped with a large refrigerator, a microwave, an electric kettle, and various plates and glasses.

Channels you can watch.
<Westin Suite>
A spacious 1LDK-style suite, comparable to what you’d find in Japan. It features a living room, dining area, kitchen, bedroom, and a separate shower room.

<Gym>

24-hour gym.
<Afternoon Tea at the Club Lounge>

There’s an array of light bites, cakes, fruits, cheese, juices, wine, beer, and more—it’s truly lavish. We enjoyed some luxurious snacks. At a certain time, Marco, the chef from Prego, the hotel’s Italian restaurant, brings out freshly baked pizzas! Being able to savor pizza straight from the restaurant’s stone oven is pure bliss!

Beer is, of course, also available.

Take a look at this spread. It’s practically a full breakfast. My impression of staying at The Westin Kuala Lumpur is that, although it’s a five-star hotel, it feels closer to a six-star experience. The food is genuinely delicious, the service is outstanding, and the rooms are spotless!
<Playground>

So many toys! My son can’t wait to play with them too.
■ Lobby and Hotel Guest Parking:
<Lobby>

The lobby boasts high ceilings and stunning decor, creating a truly beautiful atmosphere. It’s always bustling with guests from around the world, including large tour groups.

■ Breakfast:
The breakfast spread is truly extensive. I wanted to try a little bit of everything, but it’s impossible to finish it all in one sitting. I’d love to come back just for breakfast alone. If you’re traveling, you’ll have the chance to sample a variety of dishes over several days. There was even Japanese food available.

There are various types of sausages, but this one doesn’t use pork. Since Malaysia is an Islamic country, hotels are generally halal.

Noodle Centre. Local food is also available.

Must-Know Money-Saving Ayat Info
There’s a convenience store near the hotel, making it easy to grab drinks, snacks, and other essentials.
If you’re looking to buy affordable souvenirs at a supermarket, head to Giant, a supermarket located inside Sungei Wang Plaza, about an 8–10 minute walk away. Lot 10 Isetan is also a convenient option nearby.
The reception is staffed 24/7 by Japanese personnel, so Japanese-speaking support is available depending on the time.
You can choose whether or not to include breakfast.
Parking is available, so driving to stay is totally fine!
Be extremely cautious when walking outside at night.
