[Hotel in Malaysia] Maya Hotel in KLCC Area

Massage pool + spa + wheelchair-accessible rooms, super convenient near the Twin Towers!! KLCC area

Hi there! I’m Ayako, a Japanese wife who’s been eating durian every day lately.

This time, we’re introducing a long-established hotel located in the KLCC area of Kuala Lumpur. Situated just a stone’s throw from the iconic Twin Towers and directly opposite the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC), it’s a prime spot for exploring the city. The hotel is about a 13-minute walk from the KLCC LRT station at Avenue K mall, making it a particularly great choice for travelers who prefer to navigate their destinations on foot. Although the hotel has been in operation for about 27 years, it has undergone regular maintenance of its guest rooms and facilities, ensuring that the accommodations remain clean and well-kept.

This is the Sky Lounge located on the 13th floor. The interior boasts a classic ambiance, offering English or Malay High Tea for RM38 between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM. There are also terrace seats available where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the KLCC, though it can get quite hot during the day. They also accommodate events, but please note that you will need to consult with the hotel separately regarding arrangements.

Water jets flow into a pool at a modern resort with bamboo walls and a no diving sign.

The indoor pool on the third floor features a jacuzzi for ultimate relaxation. This hotel’s pool is a Hydrotherapy pool, using the water pressure from the jacuzzi and fountains to soothe your body’s fatigue. Among Kuala Lumpur hotels, this is the only one offering a massage pool. Although it’s indoors, the high ceiling and open design on the right side (no wall, connecting to the outside) create a wonderfully airy atmosphere. It’s also a perfect spot to enjoy some reading on the bench.

There’s even a huge round chair for stress relief!!! Feeling like a second-tier celebrity (lol)

Right next to the pool, there are chairs and tables like this, so you can relax here too. The breeze from outside feels refreshing. Imagine this: the dad and kids are having a blast splashing around in the pool, while the mom relaxes right here. How does that sound? On the third floor, there’s also a spa (at an additional charge) and a gym, so if you make good use of the hotel’s facilities, you can refresh your body and even get in some strength training! By the way, depending on the time of day, you can also join Zumba or Pilates classes in the gym room. (These start quite early, at 6:30 AM.)

Modern hotel suite with a king bed, brown sofa, and circular rug pattern.

This is the Deluxe Suite room. At 67 sqm, the space is more than spacious enough for two guests. Behind the sofa wall lies the bathroom, and there’s also a closet next to it. It seems interior renovations are currently being planned.

There was also a study desk—perfect for getting some light work done!

Each room features a bathtub! It’s quite spacious, and there’s a separate shower room right next to it.

Here’s the studio: a single room (34 sqm). Though it’s a single, it’s surprisingly spacious. There are also furnished options available.

Breakfast offered a delightful mix of Western dishes, Malay cuisine, and traditional Japanese rice with miso soup. The selection also included a generous spread of salads and breads, all of which were delicious.

I enjoyed a wonderful variety of dishes! Starting the day with delicious food left my heart, body, and stomach feeling completely content (#^^#). It’s so comforting to be able to enjoy miso soup while traveling.

Must-Know Ayutthaya Deals and Insider Tips

  • The “Maya” in Maya Hotel refers to the Malay word for “illusion” or “dream.” The pool, surrounded by bamboo, truly feels like it’s nestled right in the middle of a bamboo grove!

  • May Hotel features a spa in collaboration with Anggun Spa. A wide variety of treatments are available, including body and foot massages, therapeutic sessions, and facial care. TABINIKO will also be assisting with the launch of the “May Hotel Anggun Spa” package soon, so stay tuned! We’ll let you know as soon as the page goes live.

As mentioned above, we highly recommend trying out the Zumba and Pilates classes.

  • There is also a Japanese restaurant on Level 1 of the Maya Hotel. Located within Still Waters, this restaurant is staffed by a former chef from the Malaysia Nikko Hotel, serving nostalgic Japanese cuisine that closely resembles authentic Japanese flavors. In the near future, we will be featuring a blog post about a special Saturday-only all-you-can-eat set meal event called “Still Waters ~ Japanese Galore” (RM68 Nett/person). Please be sure to check it out. The “agedashi tofu” and “miso-marinated black cod (nishizaki yaki)” are unforgettable! You simply can’t easily find such dishes unless you visit a dedicated Japanese restaurant!

  • The Maya Hotel offers wheelchair-accessible rooms. The doors are wide enough for wheelchairs to pass through, and the rooms are equipped with three emergency buttons. The shower rooms are also designed to be user-friendly for guests with mobility challenges.

  • Parking is located in the adjacent Plaza 138, so please take note if you’re driving.

Surrounding Information

  • Maya Hotel is located along Jalan Ampang. It’s about a 13-minute walk from the hotel to KLCC LRT Station, which is situated in Avenue K Mall toward the KLCC direction. Alternatively, it’s just a 7-minute walk in the opposite direction to Bukit Nanas Station, located near the KL Tower. For example, you can walk another 10 minutes toward Quill City Mall, or take the LRT one stop from Bukit Nanas Station and get off at Medan Tuanku. This will lead you to “Peter Hoe Evolution + Beyond,” a trendy general goods store created by Peter Hoe, who is extremely popular among Japanese visitors. Such stylish boutiques are quite rare in Malaysia! Peter Hoe renovated an old shop lot from the 1940s and has since relocated to “THE ROW.” (Note: The China Town store is now closed.)

  • Opposite the Maya Hotel is the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC), the official tourist information hub for Malaysia. You can pick up a wealth of travel tips and brochures at their counter. However, the real highlight is the building itself—its historic, colonial-style architecture is absolutely stunning and perfect for Instagram-worthy shots or memorable family photos. (A dedicated blog post about MaTiC will be published soon!)

  • Right in front of the Maya Hotel, there is a branch of Nasi Kandar Pelita, a popular chain restaurant. This eatery serves a delightful mix of Malay and Indian cuisine, allowing you to savor authentic “Malaysian flavors.”
