[Eat Nico] Still Water (スチール ウォーター) Japanese Restaurant

Hello! The hot weather has been continuing since Chinese New Year, so let’s make sure to hydrate frequently to avoid heatstroke! This time, I’m introducing a Japanese restaurant located at the Maya Hotel. I heard that a former chef from the Malaysia Nikko Hotel is working there, and when I tried the food, it truly tasted like Japan!

The restaurant’s Saturday-only all-you-can-eat buffet, called “Japanese Galore,” features made-to-order Japanese dishes, while dim sum, salads, ice cream, desserts, fruits, and green tea are served buffet-style. On Saturdays, it’s just RM68 nett per person (approximately 1,900 yen), and on Sundays, it’s RM88 nett per person (approximately 2,400 yen)—a fantastic deal! You can enjoy all-you-can-eat sashimi and sushi.

There are plenty of options for sashimi and sushi, too. My top recommendation is the Fried Agedashi Tofu at G3! It’s so delicious that I completely forgot to take a photo of my order (;^ω^)

Wow, the dessert for a “second stomach” is amazing too! You can enjoy mini cakes, jellies, and more.

Of course, we’ve also got ice cream on hand, so you won’t miss out on enjoying Malaysian-style Cendol either!

The fruit and dessert soups are also irresistible.

Amazingly, you can even enjoy a bit of Yam Cha. You’ve conquered both Chinese and Japanese cuisine! But if you don’t hold back, you’ll lose your appetite for sushi, so I kept it moderate.

Wakame salad! It’s not easy to find in Malaysia. Let’s dig in!

The fried oysters are rich in flavor and absolutely delicious! I couldn’t resist going back for seconds and enjoyed every bite!

Fresh tuna and white fish sashimi served on ice with shiso leaves and seaweed.

The white-fleshed sashimi is called Butter Fish, which appears to be the Humpback Bream (also known as Ebodai). It seems to be a popular choice among locals. The texture is fresh and juicy. I had never tried it in Japan.

Grilled meat and potatoes served on a banana leaf with sauce and garnish, featuring the Tabiniko watermark.

Nishikyo-yaki is simply the best! The seasoning is just as authentic as in Japan, the fish is incredibly fresh, and it made me realize that whenever I crave Japanese cuisine, I’ll come back to enjoy this delicacy again.

This is the chef from the former Malaysia Nikko Hotel. Although he says he understands only a little Japanese, his training and research into Japanese cuisine have given him a deep understanding of authentic Japanese “flavors.” I believe he has mastered a taste that is close to Japan’s yet still suits Malaysian palates. Japanese cuisine places great importance on the natural flavors of ingredients, which some Malaysians might find “bland.” When you come to dine, please be sure to say “Hi!” to the chef. He is a very kind and welcoming person.
