[City One Plaza in Kuala Lumpur City Center Fully Sealed Off and Quarantined]
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that City One Plaza in Kuala Lumpur would be placed under an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) for 14 days, from March 31 to April 13, to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.
The government has decided to issue a strengthening order based on advice from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. This is because 17 people tested positive for coronavirus at City One Plaza.
City One Plaza, located in Kuala Lumpur’s city center on Jalan Munshi Abdullah, has seen a significant security deployment today. Numerous military, police, and civil defense personnel have been stationed within a 500-meter radius of the building, and access is strictly prohibited to everyone.

City One Plaza, which houses 502 residential units, has seen its 3,200 residents and various other establishments affected. With this measure, Malaysia has now implemented an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at a third location, following the zones in Simpang Renggam, Johor, and Sungai Lui in the Daerah Hulu Langat district of Selangor. This time, the entire condominium complex is under the order.
Residents of the 502-unit Residences (condominium) are prohibited from entering or leaving the premises until April 13, and are not allowed to step outside the building.
Visitors are also, of course, not allowed to enter this area.
Authorities stated they will conduct household surveys within 14 days, during which all entry and exit points in the area will be closed. The area will be managed by police, military personnel, civil defense forces, and volunteer guards. All business activities will be suspended, except for shops in the condominium selling essential goods. Residents can place takeout orders and collect their food only at the main designated security door in the condominium lobby.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with Ministry of Health staff, and follow all instructions issued by the authorities. He also advised that anyone with questions or needing support should call 03-2694 3243, 03-4026 7222, or 013-3295141.
Continuing to update.
Let’s stay calm and fight COVID-19 together. In response to the impact of the novel coronavirus, Malaysia announced an “Movement Control Order” (MCO) from March 18 to March 31, effective as of 10:00 PM on March 16 (Malaysia Time), which corresponds to 11:00 PM Japan Time. In short, this order prohibits foreigners from entering the country and prevents Malaysian citizens from leaving.
